Welcome to the Team Modder Rhu web page
This website is the result of much nagging from Team Modder Rhu founder member Carl (who is clearly too lazy to do it himself)
TMR started as Team Red Dog, back in the late 90's as a bunch of guys from around Dunfermline who were into mountain biking and other outdoor pursuits
The name came from the ever present team mascot "Harley" my Irish Setter who insisted on always running tirelessly alongside the lead bike.
His playful demeanour perfectly expressed the reason for our outings and reminded us to live in the moment
As Harley grew older, I had to face the pain of leaving him at home as we set off to the hills, but I always made sure he had a more manageable walk beforehand and he was always with me in spirit
TMR has evolved over the last few years as we get older (but not wiser) and with the onslaught of middle age spread.
The website is dedicated to the love of the great outdoors and these days that manifests itself mainly as less challenging hikes (5 - 15 miles) and the occasional hill, however with my latest Irish Setter pup (Rogan) getting bigger by the day and demanding more challenging walks, I'm getting fitter too!
I have also included a section for people who have dogs (Walkies)
These are shorter, local walks (Fife) that Harley and Rogan have seemed to enjoy and are generally safe to let your best friend off the lead and run free.
Some of us are interested in the new(ish) sport of "Geocaching" and so far a couple of us have aquired handheld GPS units. You can find out more in the Geocaching section above
So if you see two or more paunchy 40 somethings with a mad setter in the hills or glens of Scotland, chances are it will be us, so give us a wave or say hello, we're a friendly bunch.....................................................................
I update the site as often as I can, but only upload walks I have personally completed so there are no duds. So if you don't see anything that takes your fancy, drop in again in a while.
